In eSoc 211 I have already learned a lot more than I expected in the past two classes. We have watched a couple of videos as well as read some online articles that relate to our class. I enjoy how our class is more of a discussion rather than calling students out because I feel more welcomed in this class environment. As a class we have read three articles which include; What is collaboration anyway?, Collective Intelligence, and Social network next-door moves to block racial profiling online. In the first one “What is collaboration anyway?” talks about collaboration is very important when working in a team during your career or education. Collective Intelligence talks about how it is mainly a shared group that comes together to form something bigger. The last article was Social network next-door moves to block racial profiling online and that talked about how many people use this online site that can report neighborhood crime. The site can be ran by anyone who reports to it, for an example if you see someone stealing someones mail you can enter their description and the crime. The article addresses how when people report a crime they only describe their race and they are offeneded. Now they changed the settings where you have to add other descriptions other than their race. All of these articles that were read for this class were very interesting and had many things that needed to be addressed. I look forward to learning more about these subjects.
