Thats A Wrap

While coming to the conclusion that this is my final blog post, I have reflected on all the knowledge I have gained and my ability to collaborate online better. Before this class I have never imagined creating a blog because of my lack of knowledge of blogs. The first week of class we were assigned to create a blog on Blogger.com which I discovered it isn’t as intimidating as it looks. This last assignment is different than the first two because this is more of a reflective rather than a group assignment where we collaborate, but yet still has a creative way to post online.

While reflecting on things we learned in class and turning them in to blog post, I found myself finding some topics more interesting than others. Three blog post that I enjoyed writing about the most were, #FinishIt, The 2016 Election, and Black Lives Matter. These three topics I found to be most interesting to write about and made me realize how much social media plays a role in trending them. All three of these stories that I chose to write about have had collaboration in two different ways. #Finishit was collaborated by with my group for our group project, while The 2016 campaign and Black Lives Matter used collaboration fighting for a cause in the world.

            Three of my classmate’s blogs that stood out to me the most were Briana’s blog about The Culture of Reddit . The next was Noelle’s experience at the pumpkin chucking experiment held on campus she attended for extra credit. The last blog post I found most interesting was Caroline’s insight on our 11/10 class about Spread the Love. Not only do these three particular students stand out to me for having interesting blog post, I believe the whole class has good blogs.

            

#HopePhone

   The next thing we did in class was do the tasks that were given to us by the #HopePhone team. These tasks that we had to follow were a bit more challenging compared to the ones my group came up with. One of the things that was asked of us to do was to post a status on one of our social media accounts with the hashtags they provided us. I personally do not like posting things on my social media accounts unless I am very about the subject. Even though I did not feel comfortable with it, I still posted it on my Facebook. After five minutes of sharing the post, I deleted it because I did not want to have it up anymore. 

         

       The next thing that was asked of us was to send out a mass text to friends and family about the subject. I did not want to bother my friends at school and my family at work so I sent a group message to my two friends that are in this class Ana and Megan. These tasks could of been very useful if the person was willing to share on social media, because it involves the concept of membership. Not a lot of ownership would of taken place because it would be posted on ones personal social media page where only their friends can view the content.

         

      Overall I think the in class activity we did was very interesting. I actually learned a lot more than I expected. I learned that giving back to the community or the environment isn't as hard as people think. I also learned that a single post on social media can spread the word about something much more than just by mouth. I think Hydro Flask is a great company because not only do they help the environment with there reusable water bottles, but they also give back to 12 different charities. I really enjoyed this activity as I have gained so much insight.
